Office paper, magazines, and newspapers can be recycled in the residence halls, in academic buildings, and in the campus drop box located on the corner of Normal Avenue and Locust Street. Stack unwanted telephone books neatly behind any paper recycling container. Used books can be donated by dropping them off at the Office of Sustainability at 302 North Normal Ave.
Aluminum cans, plastic containers and glass may all be recycled in the residence halls, in academic buildings, in the Bone Student Center and in the campus drop box located on the corner of Normal Avenue and Locust Street.
Place old cell phones, inkjet, and toner cartridges from printers in the recycling kiosks available in the lobbies of all ISU Residence Halls, at the TechZone entrance and at the Carter Harris Physical Plant Office. Or, call University Recycling at 438-SAVE (-7283) and ask for an inkjet/toner bag. Place your unwanted cell phone, ink jet, or toner cartridge in the plastic bags and then drop in the mail. No postage necessary! (Proceeds go to Special Olympics Illinois)
Unwanted electronics (such as computers, monitors, and cameras) may be dropped off at TechZone in the Bone Student Center or taken to the Normal Public Works Garage located at 1301 Warriner St. in Normal. These items do not need to be in working order to be recycled. Learn more about the the Town of Normal's Electronics Recycling program.
Alkaline batteries may be placed in the recycling containers provided in the lobbies of all ISU Residence Halls, Carter Harris Physical Plant Office and on the second floor of the Bone Student Center (at the entrance of TechZone). Also, various battery stores in Bloomington-Normal accept used batteries.
There are various locations across campus (including the residence halls, academic buildings, the campus drop box located on the corner of Normal Avenue and Locust Street, and the Bone Student Center) that have cardboard recycling. Flatten all boxes and place cardboard neatly behind mixed paper recycling containers.
