In the fall of 2009, the Student Government Association (SGA) established the Student Sustainability Committee (SSC). SSC is an external committee of SGA that is comprised of four voting members from SGA, five voting members from the student body at large including one from the Association of Residence Halls (ARH) and is chaired by SGA's Secretary of Sustainability.
The purpose of the committee is to:
Review and make recommendations regarding policies, programs, and procedures to encourage SGA sustainability goals.
To support American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, the Illinois Sustainable University Compact, the Office of Sustainability, and the University Master Plan.
Assist in communicating the SGA sustainability goals, initiatives, programs, and services within the ISU organizations, to ISU clubs and Registered Student Organizations (RSO's), and to the campus community.
Identify efforts to address concerns and interest in sustainability for the student body and ISU campus.
Oversee the Sustainability Fund allocations.
