Elisabeth Reed has served as the Director of the Illinois State University Office of Sustainability beginning in June of 2019. Since then, she has led the University to develop its first Sustainability Strategic Plan, integrated Zero Waste practices into campus operations, and created innovative programming with students, faculty, staff and community members. Prior to this position, Reed taught in the Fashion Design and Merchandising program at ISU – connecting sustainability and environmental justice issues into textiles and product development courses, while also developing the award-winning Fix It Friday program. Reed has a master’s degree in fashion design from the Savannah College of Art and Design and an undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati.

Christine joined the Office of Sustainability in January 2023 as Assistant Director. In this role, Christine helps tell the story of our sustainability through data by tracking and monitoring sustainability-related activities, initiatives, and operations. Prior to joining the Office of Sustainability, Christine was the Assistant Director of Assessment and Data Management in the Center for Civic Engagement at Illinois State University for six years where she collaborated with the Office of Sustainability often. She also previously served as a Research and Planning Analyst in the Office of Planning, Research, and Policy Analysis at Illinois State, conducted research and program evaluations for a local non-profit agency, and taught high school English and speech. She holds a B.A. in Communication Teacher Education and a M.S. in Communication both from Illinois State University.
